About Bang Sak Beach
Welcome to Bang Sak Beach, a hidden gem located in the serene Khao Lak area of Thailand. This stunning beach is a popular destination for local Thai families to visit, especially during the weekend.
Local culture at Bang Sak Beach
The beach is a bustling hub of activity during weekends and public holidays, with local Thai families enjoying picnics and great Thai food. You can witness the local culture in action, as vendors sell snacks and refreshments, and Thai children play on the beach.
If you’re looking for a great coffee or a delicious treat, head to Garang Cafe Artisan Ice Cream, located right at the beach road. This cosy air conditioned surf-style cafe offers a wide range of freshly brewed coffee and a delectable selection of home baked goods and pastries. We just love their croissants with caramel sauce and macadamia nuts!
Bang Sak Beach is perfect for a picnic
While Bang Sak Beach may not be known for its snorkelling opportunities due to the sandy nature of the water, there are still plenty of other activities to enjoy. Take a leisurely walk along the beach and bask in the warm sunshine, or simply relax with a good book under a shady palm tree.
Note: right now there aren’t any sunbeds on the beach. Instead, locals bring their own hammocks or picnic mats/blankets and find a nice spot under the trees – there is plenty of space! Restaurants do provide tables and chairs to enjoy food and drinks in the shade on the beach.
One of the unique features of Bang Sak Beach is its beautiful tree-line, which provides the perfect setting for a picnic or a lunch in the shade. The towering trees not only offer respite from the scorching sun but also create a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to relax and unwind.
Compared to other beaches that are often bare and exposed, Bang Sak’s tree-line adds a touch of natural beauty and a sense of tranquility to the beach. The trees’ lush foliage and rustling leaves create a soothing ambiance that enhances the overall experience of spending time at the beach.

This cascading waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and provides a refreshing retreat from the heat. You can swim in the cool waters of the natural pool beneath the waterfall or take a hike along the nature trail that winds through the surrounding jungle.

This lookout offers breathtaking vistas of the mountains, coastline, and sea, making it an excellent spot for photography and sightseeing.
